"Luana Hills Country Club"
Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii 2010

My wife, Georgia, and I were advised by a good friend, Gary Halperin, to visit this scenic golf course.  As you can see, we did.

What you don't see is the shock on our faces as we wound down a hard to find road which opened up to some of the most beautiful sites we had seen in the 44 vacations we have taken to Hawaii over the past 44 years.

We grabbed our camera equipment and began shooting.  Since we were on private property, we asked the manager if we could go on the course to take some photos and were told we could not.  But he did allow us to take photos from the club house area and so we did.  I set up my tripod and began to lock in on a few scenes.  HDR photography is done best with a tripod to keep the 3 or more photos needed as close to the same as possible.

High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging
In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of luminances between the lightest and darkest areas  of an image than standard digital imaging techniques or photographic  methods. This wider dynamic range allows HDR images to more accurately represent the wide range of in  tensity  levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to faint starlight.[1

The two main sources of HDR imagery are computer renderings and merging of multiple photographs, which in turn are kn  own as low dynamic range (LDR  )[2] (also called standard dy  namic range (SDR)[3]) photographs.

Tone mapping techniques, which reduce overall contrast to facilitate display of HDR images on devices with lower dynamic range, can be applied to produce images with preserved or exaggerated local contrast for artistic effect.
